Kippa-Ring Shopping Centre is proud to present this stunning artwork painted by Kabi Kabi artist, Jason Douglas of Dalmarri. The word "Kippa" is a Kabi indigenous word meaning "uninitiated man".
"The Bora rings have huge cultural history and significance, large concentric circles used for cultural ceremonies and rituals. During such ceremonies, young Kabi Kabi clans were initiated into adulthood through various rituals and teachings by our Elders and Ancestors. Surrounding the Bora rings is our footprints, our spirits and our ancestors, protectors of these sacred sites."
This remarkable artwork embodies the spirit and culture of our Indigenous community, enriching the vibrant tapestry of our center. We encourage all to come and admire the artwork positioned near The Reject Shop entrance.
